Q:
What is the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Responsible on Dodge Nitro? Posted by Customer
A:
The manifold absolute pressure sensor is responsible for monitoring changes in intake manifold pressure, which are caused by variations in engine load and speed. It converts this information into a voltage output, which is then used by the PCM to control fuel delivery and ignition timing. The voltage signal received by the PCM ranges from 0.5 volts at closed throttle (high vacuum) to 4.5 volts at wide-open throttle low vacuum. On 2.4L four-cylinder engines, the sensor is located on the rear of the intake manifold, while on V6 engines, it is located at the front. To remove the sensor, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the retaining screws. Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace if necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal.

Q:
Where is the MAP Sensor Located on Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 2500? Posted by Customer
A:
Disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). On the 3.6L V6 engine, the MAP sensor is located on the top of the intake manifold. On 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, the sensor is located in the front of the intake manifold. Disconnect the electrical connector from the MAP sensor. Remove the MAP sensor mounting screw and remove the MAP sensor from the intake manifold. Remove the MAP sensor 0-ring and inspect it for cracks, tears, and deterioration. If the 0-ring is damaged, replace it. Installation is the reverse of removal. For HEMI engines, the MAP sensor is located on the front of the intake manifold air plenum box. Disconnect the electrical connector from the MAP sensor. Remove the MAP sensor from the intake manifold. Remove the old MAP sensor 0-ring and inspect it for cracks, tears, and deterioration. If it's damaged, replace it. To install the MAP sensor, place it in position, insert it into the mounting hole in the intake manifold, and turn it 1/4-turn clockwise. Installation is otherwise the reverse of removal. For diesel engines, the MAP sensor is located on top of the intake manifold. The MAP sensor is one-half of the dual-function Intake Air Temperature/Manifold Absolute Pressure (IAT/MAP) sensor.
