    Q:
How to remove and install a cylinder head in 3.5L V6 engine on Chrysler 300? Posted by Customer
    A:
It is necessary to have the needed special tools before starting this process. Start the removal by releasing fuel system pressure, removing the negative terminal of the battery and emptying off cooling system. After removing upper and lower intake manifolds, ignition coils, spark plugs, exhaust manifold from cylinder head(s), valve cover(s), rocker arms, shafts (if equipped) and timing belt along with its covers; pay attention to timing belt rotation direction if belt is to be reused. Loosen camshaft sprocket bolt with a wrench while holding sprocket hex and remove the thrust plate for camshaft allowing it to slid back. Make cardboard template for putting all cylinder head bolts together accurately after removing rear timing belt cover bolts. Remove each cylinder head mounting bolt in reverse tightening sequence, then store them accordingly. Lift the heads off engine making sure all bolts are removed and place on wooden blocks. If camshaft requires removal this should be done with head off. For installation make sure mating surfaces are clean, clear cylinders of any debris and check for damage. Chase threads in head bolt holes then replace any stretched bolts. Place new gasket over dowel pins checking that it matches up with down spout hole location and place head onto block without disrupting gasket. Tighten bolts recommendedly reasecure camshaft sprocket thrust plate put on rear timinig belt cover bolts or complete remaining steps as they were throughout installation procedure but backwards.Turn it off by changing oil and filter replacing coolant running engine checking for leaks.

    Q:
How to remove and install a cylinder head in 2.7L V6 engine on Chrysler 300? Posted by Customer
    A:
Just before starting, make sure the engine is completely cold. To begin removing the above, be careful not to move crankshaft position alignment marks and remove primary timing chain and sprockets. Proceed by taking camshafts off from cylinder head, then remove rocker arms and hydraulic lash adjusters and label them for reinstalling on the same valves they were removed from. Remove the lower intake manifold as well as any exhaust manifold(s), labeling and removing other components still attached to the cylinder head. Unscrew evenly all head bolts by turning each one One-quarter turn at a time until you reach break away torque so as to avoid warping or cracking the heads. Lift out the cylinder head with exhaust manifold still attached, prying it up at trans end just beyond the gasket surface if stuck. For thorough cleaning of a cylinder head before taking it to an automotive machine shop apply this procedure; send it to an automotive machine shop after stripping all external components from a cylinder head. Ensure that mating surfaces of a block and a cylinder head are spotlessly clean before installation. Carbon and old gaskets can be scraped off using a gasket scraper; wipe surfaces with lacquer thinner or acetone knowing oil should not be present thereon when mating takes place. Examine both block and head surfaces for damage, tap threads in head bolt holes, check each bolt for stretching on every cylinder-head bolt hole size plays a significant role in determining proper clamp load during assembly process after re-tapping each of them . Check the flatness of this component using a straightedge or feeler gauge . Reinstall any parts taken off the top end, correctly place new cylinder-head gasket over dowel pins in block's deck surface retaining its position while lowering it onto dowels without pushing down on this seal . Lubricate head bolt threads and hardened washers with clean engine oil, following tightening sequence on torque-to-yield bolts; reinstall lash adjusters, rocker arms, camshafts, primary timing chain and sprockets . Finally when you are through with all the above procedures refill your cooling system, change engine oil and filter before starting it up then observe for coolant or oil leaks.

How to remove the cylinder heads in V8 engine on Dodge Charger? Posted by Customer
    A:
Depressurize the fuel system and remove the battery to take off the cylinder heads. Empty the cooling system and get rid of intake manifold, exhaust manifold(s), valve covers, rocker arms and push rods. Unfasten head bolts according to a particular manner and unscrew them manually. Detach heads from an engine by using a wooden block or hitting wood with a hammer. The heads should be protected from damaging the gasket sealing surfaces by putting them on blocks of wood. When installing, ensure that mating faces are clean and clear of any dirt particles or debris. Gasket scraper can be used to clean up these faces as well as lacquer thinner or acetone. Finally check for damage, use emery cloth or machine if necessary; chase threads in head bolt holes and clean bolt threads too. Position new gaskets properly in block dowels. Carefully lay heads on top of block without disturbing gaskets.Coat head bolt threads with engine oil before inserting bolts back into their original positions; tighten in recommended sequence following torque specification in several steps.Complete remaining installation steps in reverse order. Finally, start the engine, check for proper operation and leaks, add coolant/ change oil plus filler.

How to remove and install Cylinder Head in 5.7L V8 engine on Dodge Durango? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before removing the components, reduce the fuel system pressure and then join the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Empty the cooling system, the intake manifold and the exhaust manifolds from the cylinder heads. Then remove the valve covers, then the rocker arm and push rods together with them, so that they can remain hung in the same sequence when reassembling the automobile. Turn the head bolts by 1/4 turn according to the sequence that is the reverse of the tight sequencing until they reach a situation where they can be backed off; where the head bolts are of different lengths, these should be stored in order. Withdraw the heads gently from the engine with the aid of a block of wood and hammer if needed, and place them on other wooden blocks which are to protect the surfaces of the gasket seals. For installation, before fitting the cylinder heads and block clean the mating surface using gasket removal solvents and scraper if necessary. Rub the surfaces with a damp cloth and lacquer thinner or acetone after that, and it is important to cover the lifter valley with the shop rags in order to prevent debris from getting there. Inspect the mating surfaces for flatness and remove nipples and other high spots using emery cloth in case of minor warping; in case of extreme warping, then machining is required. Follow the threads of the head bolt holes by rubbing and scrapes of corrosion on the bolts should be removed using a die. Place the new gaskets accordingly over the dowels in the block and ensure the lettering is rightly positioned. Put the heads in its proper place ensuring it does not shift the gaskets, apply engine oil on the threads of the head bolts then screw them and tighten them by hand before tightening them to the following pattern for torquing. The remaining Steps are the reverse of Remove Steps. Last but not least put in the coolant, put in the oil and the filter, crank the engine, and check the operation and make sure that there is no leakage.
