Lose the wheel lugs and then jack up the vehicle before placing jackstands before you remove the wheel. Subsequently, in order of loosening, the next one is the tie-rod end and the subsequent is the jam nut. Then unfasten the rack and pinion boot clamps and pull the boot, observing if there is a lot of power steering fluid, if there is, then it is an indication that the rack seals have leaked, then replace the power steering gear with a new or rebuilt one. Prior to fitting the new boot cover the threads and serration at the end of the steering rod with some adhesive tape to avoid harming the small end of the new boot. Insert the new boot into the place of the old one on the steering gear and slide it until it is firmly engaged with the grooves; then new clamps should be fitted. After the removal of the tape, the tie-rod end is to be fitted. Lastly put in the wheel and the lug nuts, let the car down and tighten the lug nuts to the recommended torque setting and check the front end alignment and realign if needed.
