- A:For a radiator-mounted electric cooling fan, if it is not coming on when the A/C is selected or the engine temperature rises, the fan motor can be tested by connecting it directly to the battery with a fused jumper wire. If the fan motor does not come on, it should be replaced. If the motor is okay but still not coming on, the fan relay may be defective and should be checked by a qualified repair shop.
