Q:
How can the fan be checked for the 2012 Ram 1500? Posted by Customer
A:
To check the fan, rock it back and forth for excessive bearing play and turn the blades by hand to ensure they turn freely. If there is substantial fluid leakage, a deformed bi-metal spring, or grease leakage from the cooling fan bearing, the viscous fan clutch should be replaced. For a hot engine check, start the engine and let it warm up, then turn off the engine and try turning the fan by hand. If it turns easily, the fan clutch should be replaced.
