Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for at least two minutes. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, place the shift lever in the PARK position. Turn the key to the ON position and insert a small screwdriver or pin punch through the access hole in the lower steering column cover. Depress the release tang on the bottom of the key lock cylinder while pushing up on it to remove the key-lock cylinder. Installation is the reverse of removal; be sure to push in the key lock cylinder until it snaps into place. To replace the ignition switch in these models, start by removing the ignition key lock cylinder. Remove the lower steering column cover screws and remove the cover. Unplug the two electrical connectors from the ignition switch and remove the ignition switch retaining screw (tamper-proof Torx type). Using a small screwdriver, depress the locking tab and remove the ignition switch from the steering column. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that the slot in the switch is rotated to the ON position before installing it.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal and, if equipped with an automatic transmission, place the shift lever in the PARK position.
