    To check the transmission mount, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Insert a large screwdriver or prybar into the space between the transmission extension housing and the crossmember, attempting to pry the transmission up slightly. The transmission should not move much, and the rubber in the center of the mount should fully insulate it from the mount bracket.

    For replacement, the negative battery cable must be disconnected, and the air filter and housing removed. Both left and right engine mounting nuts must be removed simultaneously to allow the engine to be raised high enough for servicing, using a special engine hoist mounted as a crossbar over the engine. The intake manifold and Camshaft Position sensor electrical connectors should be disconnected, and any obstructing electrical connectors removed before raising the engine.
