    Q:
How Do Car Mirrors Work and What Should You Do If They Malfunction on Chrysler Town & Country? Posted by Customer
    A:
Most electric rear view mirrors use two motors to move the glass; one for up and down adjustments and one for left-right adjustments. The control switch has a selector portion that sends voltage to the left or right side mirror. With the ignition ON but the engine OFF, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions (left-right and up-down) for both the left and right side mirrors, listening carefully for the sound of the electric motors running in the mirrors. If the motors can be heard but the mirror glass doesn't move, there's a problem with the drive mechanism inside the mirror. If the mirrors do not operate and no sound comes from the mirror motors, check the fuse. If the fuse is OK, remove the mirror control switch and have the switch continuity checked by a dealership service department or other qualified automobile repair facility. Test the ground connections. If the mirror still doesn't work, remove the mirror and check the wires at the mirror for voltage. If there's no voltage in each switch position, check the circuit between the mirror and control switch for opens and shorts. If there's voltage, remove the mirror and test it off the vehicle with jumper wires, replacing the mirror if it fails this test.

    Q:
How to Remove and Install Car Mirrors on Dodge Caravan? Posted by Customer
    A:
For models equipped with power mirrors, lift up the instrument panel top pad to access the electrical connector for the mirror and disconnect it. Next, remove the upper trim cover from the mirror and take out the mirror mounting screws to detach the mirror. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the inside mirror, use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the set screw, then slide the mirror up off the button on the windshield. If the mount plate has come off the windshield, adhesive kits are available at auto parts stores to re-secure it, following the included instructions. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    Q:
How to Replace Inside and Outside Car Mirrors on a Dodge Dakota? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the outside mirrors, take off the door trim panel and then you disconnect the connector for the power mirrors. Then, to remove the inside mirror take off three nuts which are located at the open area and unclasp the mirror from the door or to install, the process will be the reverse of removal. For the inside mirror, unbolt the setscrew and pull the mirror off support base on windshield; if automatic day/night take off the connector. Reinstallation is the complete reverse of this procedure, and if the support base has pulled away from the windshield which it is usually located, it can be repaired by using a mirror adhesive kit that is bought at auto parts' stores. Make sure to wash the glass as well as the support base then apply adhesive as recommended by the manufacturers.

    Q:
How to Effectively Remove and Install Car Mirrors on Dodge Grand Caravan? Posted by Customer
    A:
The interior mirror can be pulled up and taken off the button on the windshield, which is secured with screws where you will need a Phillips head to loosen a set-screw. In installation, the process is as follows: On the exterior you begin by pulling out the door trim panel, then you have to unscrew the mirror knob and the bezel that is enclosing it and if it is a power type of mirror, you remove the electrical connector. After that, unscrew the nuts to loosen the mirror from the door and if you want to install it, do the above process but in reverse.

    Q:
How to Adjust Electric Side-View Car Mirrors and What Should You Do If They Stop Working on Dodge Durango? Posted by Customer
    A:
The electric side-view mirrors can be adjusted up-and-down and left-to-right using a driver's side switch on the left door trim panel. Models with factory-installed dual power mirrors feature a heater grid behind the mirror glass to clear fog, ice, or snow, and if the heater grid fails, the entire mirror must be replaced. The heater grid switches and heated mirror system indicator light are part of the heater/air conditioning control panel on the dash, and if any of these components fail, the heater/air conditioning control assembly should be replaced. The power mirror control switch includes a LEFT-RIGHT selector to direct voltage to the desired side-view mirror. With the ignition in the ACC position, the windows should be rolled down while operating the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors, listening for the sound of the electric motors. If the motors are audible but the mirror glass does not move, the drive mechanism inside the mirror is likely defective, requiring mirror replacement. If there is no sound from the mirrors, the fuse in one of the fuse and relay boxes should be checked. If the fuse is intact, the door panel must be removed to access the back of the mirror control switch without disconnecting the wires. With the ignition ON, voltage should be present at one terminal of the switch; if not, the wiring between the fuse panel and the switch should be inspected for an open. If voltage is present, the switch should be disconnected and continuity checked in all operating positions, replacing it if continuity is absent. After reconnecting the switch, the wire from the switch to ground should be located, and a jumper wire connected between this wire and ground to test if the mirror operates normally, indicating a faulty ground connection if it does. If the mirror remains inoperative, it should be removed to check for voltage at the mirror wires with the ignition ON and the selector switch positioned appropriately, ensuring voltage is present at one of the switch-to-mirror wires in each switch position except the neutral position. If voltage is absent in any position, the wiring between the mirror and control switch should be examined for opens and shorts. If voltage is confirmed, the mirror should be tested off the vehicle with jumper wires, replacing it if it fails this test.

How to Remove and Install Car Mirrors on Dodge Ram 3500? Posted by Customer

    Q:
How to Troubleshoot Issues with Your Car Mirror on Dodge Ram 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
A driver can adjust the electric mirrors from the left door inside switch. Where there are dual power mirrors, each mirror has a heater grid integrated into it to thaw fogged or iced up ones. If a heater grid goes bad, replacement of the mirror is necessary. The heater grids and the related parts with switches and indicator lights are one of those found on the dashboard together with other air conditioning panels as well. Just in case any of these components fail, it will be necessary for someone to replace the whole control assembly. The heated mirror relay can be located in the engine compartment fuse and relay box. The mirror control switch includes a LEFT-RIGHT selector switch which helps adjust both mirrors. While waiting for sound of electric motors running in the mirrors, operate through all functions for both mirrors with ignition at ACC position. If you hear noise from within but no movement takes place on its glass; then, change your mind about a drive mechanism gone wrong that might necessitate its replacement. If they make no response and there isn't any noise arising from them then you have to verify whether its fuse is okay or not by making a quick check at engine compartment fuses. Whenever that looks okay then remove door panel enough to access at back side of mirror control switch where upon repair process should follow after confirming voltage actually present at switch by testing continuity with multimeters while checking for open circuit on wiring where none exists so far up to this point as voltage level ought to be there even when absent such that otherwise depending on what was observed earlier, replacing faulty units becomes imperative next step until everything is put back together again before opting out as last straw could involve suspecting ground connection meant exclusively whereas trying know definitely anything else learned without certainty if possible still missing something seemingly apparent because entire matter remains doubtful therefore priority taken toward rechecking exact points accordingly under circumstances such as mention during final test when true results would show if indeed finding others especially whom immediately. At first, check voltage at the mirror, and if none is present test them with lead-acid battery outside vehicle in order to find out if they need replacing.
