    Begin by removing the module. Detach the fuel level sensor from the fuel filter module by spreading the four locking tangs and pulling off the sensor. Cut the two wire ties that secure the wiring to the fuel return lines and disconnect the ground wires from the fuel filter module. Remove the fuel level sensor. If you're only replacing the fuel pressure regulator, you can stop here. To remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel filter module, pry off the retaining clip. Inspect the condition of the fuel pressure regulator O-rings. If you're replacing the fuel filter module, remove the ground ring from the recess for the fuel pressure regulator. When installing the ground ring in the new fuel filter module, ensure that the ground ring terminal is seated correctly in the notch. After installation, turn the ignition switch to On to activate the fuel pump and check for fuel leakage.

    Remove the module and detach the fuel level sensor. Cut the wire ties and disconnect the ground wires. Remove the fuel level sensor. If you're only replacing the fuel pressure regulator, you're done. To remove the regulator from the fuel filter module, pull out the retaining clip. Check the condition of the regulator's O-rings. If you're replacing the fuel filter module, remove the ground ring and install it correctly in the new module. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal.
