    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
How to remove and install the oil pump in V8 engine on Dodge Magnum? Posted by Customer
    A:
The oil pressure relief valve should not be removed from the engine oil pump housing. Once you remove the oil pressure relief valve from this housing, you have to replace the entire oil pump assembly with a new one. Note: The V8's oil pump is a complete unit only. REMOVAL: Unplug the battery cable from its negative terminal. Then drain off the coolant. After that, take down the timing chain cover. Finally, remove the pan for containing oil in it. Remove the bolt that holds pick-up tube assembly and lower it away from an engine's oil pump. After then remove mounting bolts of an engine's oil pump and detach said pump from block of an engine. INSTALLATION: Place the pump on top of your car's power plant (engine). Ensure that rotor of gear wheel is in line with crankshaft drive (fitting) and tighten as needed. Mounting bolts for an engine's oil pumps can now be fitted after which they are tightly secured to produce a specified torque level. This involves attaching 0-ring onto pickup tube of an engine's oil system where latter should be connected to an appropriate part using a bolt which has to be tightened at stated torques New O- ring must always be put on top of pick-up tube before fastening it using bolt which has to be tightened with correct torques per se given by manufacturers The remaining steps are performed as described above in reverse order Fill up sump with right kind including quantity of machine grease, change filter and refill radiator Run motor for presence corresponding fluid pressures and leaks.
