Q:
How do you remove for the 2009 Chrysler 300? Posted by Customer
A:
Start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the three starter motor mounting bolts. Move the starter motor assembly forward far enough for the pinion gear to clear the starter hole and the driveplate ring gear, then tilt the starter downward so that you can reach the electrical terminals on the solenoid. Disconnect the battery cable and electrical connector from the terminals on the starter motor solenoid and remove the starter motor. For installation, reverse the removal steps.

Q:
How to Troubleshoot and check a Malfunction in the Starting Circuit and Starter Motor? Posted by Customer
A:
If a malfunction occurs in the starting circuit, do not immediately assume the starter is the problem. First, check the battery cable clamps for cleanliness and tightness, inspect the battery cables and replace any defective ones, test the battery's condition, check the starter motor wiring and connections, ensure the starter motor mounting bolts are tight, examine the related fuses in the engine compartment fuse box, verify the correct operation of the ignition switch circuit and starter relay, and consider the Transmission Range (TR) sensor, which may require professional checking. If the starter does not activate when the ignition switch is turned to the start position, check for battery voltage at the starter solenoid to determine if it's receiving the correct voltage from the ignition switch. If voltage is not available, refer to the wiring diagrams and check the fuses and starter relay. If voltage is available but the starter doesn't move, bench test the starter and check for solenoid operation and pinion drive rotation. If the starter turns over slowly, test the starter cranking voltage and current draw from the battery on the engine, ensuring the battery is in good condition and the specifications are met. If the starter is receiving voltage but not activating, remove and bench test the starter assembly, checking the solenoid and starter motor for defects or possible engine seizure before proceeding.
