Mopar 5061342AC A/C Expansion Valve

Let an auto air conditioning expert empty your system. Pull the cable off from the negative battery terminal. Take out the right side front fender shield near the wheel. Separate the refrigerant pipes by pulling out the plastic holding device on the liquid pipe and unscrewing the metal fitting holding it to the valve. Close off the refrigerant openings to keep dirt and moisture from mixing with the system. Take out the two accessible mounting screws that safely connect the expansion valve. Disconnect and take off the expansion valve from its connection on the evaporator. Keep the rubber seals from this connection for later use. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use fresh, R-134a-compatible O-rings during all valve reinstallation steps. Ask the auto service center that removed the system's liquid to evacuate, recharge and check for leaks before adding more fuel into the system. Remove the right rear interior quarter panel. Take out the insulation near where the expansion valve sits. Detach the valve from the top of the refrigerant system by loosening and removing the two bolts that fasten the refrigerant line fitting and the expansion valve. Then disconnect the lines before putting on protective coverings. Seal all refrigerant openings to keep dirt and moisture out of the system. Gently pull off the expansion valve from the evaporator below, keeping the two O-rings. Put them aside. Installation is the reverse of removal. Use fresh O-rings matched for R-134a when you put the system back together. Have the shop remove, check for leaks, recondition, and refill the system again.
