The clutch pilot bearing is a needle roller type bearing that is fitted into the back of the crank shaft, it is pre-packed with grease and does not require any further servicing; it mainly supports the front of the transmission input shaft. This should be done each time the clutch parts are pulled off the engine, and, if there is reason to suspect that the item in question is compromised by the level of access, it is best to opt for a new one. This is particularly so if the engine had been removed from the car since certain of the outlined processes may not be tenable. The clutch components should be taken off and an examination for signs of wear, for scoring, for lack of grease, dryness or other signs of damage; all indications requiring replacement of the bearing, a flashlight should be useful for lighting up the recess. The pilot bearing can be can be pulled out using puller and slide hammer. To fit the new bearing it is necessary to put lithium-based grease on the outer diameter slightly and then fit the bearing into the recess using large socket turning it in such a way that the seal will face the transmission. Furthermore, replaced the clutch components, transmission and all eliminates fasteners properly alongside the used components.
