The VVT solenoids for the 3.6L are positioned at the front of the valve covers with one solenoid each for the intake and exhaust camshafts. First, remove the battery negative terminal, second, remove the engine cover and finally air filter housing assembly. When assembling, mark the solenoids for intake or exhaust, and left or right where necessary. Then, unscrew the three connections, electrical connectors and take out the solenoid away from the vale cover also, one should look at the condition of the seal near it to see if it needs replacement. Installation is done in the reverse order to removal and the cam/crank variation learn should be done using a scan tool where applicable. For the 5.7L engine (2010 and later) the VVT solenoid is located beneath the intake manifold in the lifter valley physically engaged at the front of the engine block. First, take off the negative terminal of the battery, then, undo the engine cover, and the intake manifold as well. Pull the electrical connector of the solenoid, undo the holding bolt, and turn the solenoid anticlockwise to remove it from the car. Again, as with the 3.6L engine, removal is the reverse of installation; after its completion, the cam/crank variation learn procedure must be done with a scan tool.
