All 2008 model year prior 5.7 L and all 6.1 L engines have the timing chain mark position from 2009/2010, 5.7L VVT and all 6.4 L VVT but in the opposite. Starting with the removal of the cable, it is correct to start with the negative terminal of the battery and depending on the model and specifically 2015 and later models that come with an IBS, IBS connector needs to be removed. Pull the engine cover(s) by first unscrewing the engine oil cap and drain the cooling system, and the engine oil. Continue with the dismantling of air filter housing and air intake duct and drive belt, and cooling fans to the engine. Loosen the screws which holds the air conditioning compressor to the engine, but do not disconnect the hoses; suspend the air conditioning compressor with ropes or wires beside the engine. After that, take out the alternator and drivebelt tensioner as well as the idler pulleys, and, finally, pull the camshaft position sensor's electrical connector. Remove the vibration damper being careful not to damage the radiator on one side place a piece of cardboard to cover the radiator while several screws are unscrewed on the other side. Disconnect the power steering lines to be able to remove the pump, take out the dipstick tube as well as the oil pan together with the pickup tube. Remove the heater hoses and tube from the front cover, and also the water pump though it is not a requirement for timing cover removal. Remove the timing cover bolts and the front cover; the 2009 and later 5.7L VVT engine models uses five bolts to hold the oil pan to the timing cover. Take out the oil pump assembly, and for 2008 & earlier 5.7L and all 6.1L engines install the bolt back into the crankshaft and rotate until the timing mark lines up. The remaining 5.7L Hemi engines, 5.7 L and later has a similar procedure to the timing mark alignment used for the 2009 and later 5.7L and all 6.4L engines. Pull back the tensioner and secure it with a drill move the camshaft sprocket bolt and take off the timing chain with the sprockets. If the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets have been damaged or worn and if the new timing chain is to be fitted, it is recommended that the whole set is changed in an assembly. Clean the oil pan opening, and sealing surfaces and compress the tensioner and fit the camshaft thrust plate. Place the timing chain and sprockets as per the required position and make sure that the timing mark is lined correctly. Put thread locking compound on the camshaft sprocket bolt and screw it in until tight, then take the chain and rub it with clean engine oil, Twists the tensioner until the drill bit falls out. Secure the oil pump and pick-up tube with adequate fixture arrangement and the timing cover rubber gasket is to be fine or else it has to be replaced. Go to where the timing cover, the engine block, and the oil pan unite and use RTV sealant; fix the timing cover with the aid of the bolts and tighten them. Set the oil pan in place, apply grease on the oil seal contacting area of the vibration damper hub and fit the damper in. Finally, to complete the installation procedure, some of them should be reversed The coolant and engine oil are also added, and the engine run in order to identify the leakage.
