Remove the air cleaner assembly. Release the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the negative cable at the battery. Place the cable out of the way so it cannot accidentally come in contact with the negative terminal of the battery, as this would once again allow power into the electrical system of the vehicle. Remove the four screws retaining the fuel inlet chamber to the throttle body. Remove the
Fuel Pressure Regulator-to-throttle body vacuum tube. Wrap a cloth around the fuel inlet chamber to catch the residual fuel and lift the inlet chamber and injector off the throttle body. Withdraw the injector from the inlet chamber. Peel the upper and lower O-rings from the fuel injector. Remove the snap-ring retaining the seal and washer on the injector, followed by the seal and washer. Remove the bolt retaining the injector cap and lift the cap off the injector using two screwdrivers inserted in the slots provided for this purpose. Pry the injector from the pod using a screwdriver inserted in the holes in the side of the electrical connector. After removal, make sure the lower injector O-ring is removed from the pod. Install a new O-ring, washer, and seal on the injector, retaining them with the snap-ring. Insert the injector into the fuel inlet chamber. Place the injector/fuel inlet chamber in position on the throttle body and install the pressure regulator-to-throttle body vacuum tube. Place the assembly into the throttle body and install the retaining screws. Tighten the screws to the specified torque. Install new O-rings on the injector and injector cap. Place the injector in the pod and position the injector so the cap can be installed without interference. Rotate the cap and injector so they line up with the attachment hold, push down to ensure a good seal, and install the retaining screws. Tighten the screws to the specified torque. Connect the negative battery cable, start the engine, and check for leaks. Turn off the engine and install the air cleaner assembly.
