  A: Inspect the Control Arm balljoints for looseness anytime they are separated from the Steering Knuckle. Check for up to 0.020-inch movement with a dial indicator or have it checked at an automotive repair shop. If replacement is indicated, replace the upper or lower control arm. For the lower balljoint, a special press tool and receiver cup is needed to remove and install the balljoint. If you don't have access to this tool, take the vehicle to an automotive machine shop or other qualified repair facility.
