The Driveshaft Center Support Bearing can be checked similarly to
Universal Joints by inspecting for loose and deteriorated rubber mounts. Further examination can be conducted by running the vehicle in gear with the rear wheels raised, but this should only be performed by an authorized dealer for safety. Begin by removing the driveshaft assembly, then mount the front driveshaft assembly in a vise and pull the bearing support and insulator away from the bearing. Use a hammer to bend the slinger away from the bearing to create enough clearance for a bearing puller, and then remove the bearing with the puller. After that, take off the slinger. Always utilize an overhaul kit during the reassembly of the Driveshaft Center Support Bearing assembly. To assemble the bearing, position the slinger, bearing assembly, and retainer on the shaft, and use a properly sized pipe to drive the parts onto the shaft until they bottom on the shoulder, taking care not to damage the shaft splines. Finally, place the slip yoke seal cap and seal on the Driveshaft Center Support Bearing splines for installation, and install the driveshaft assembly, crimping the seal cap tabs to the slip yoke.
