    Disconnect the negative (ground) cable from the battery. Loosen the alternator mounting bracket bolts and strap, then push the unit towards the engine block enough to slip the drivebelt off the alternator pulley. Detach the wires from the alternator and remove the mounting bracket bolts to lift away the alternator. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring that the wire connections are correctly made and that the drivebelt is properly tensioned. Reconnect the negative battery cable only after the wires have been reattached to the alternator.
