Q:
How to Remove and Install the Air Intake Duct and Air Filter Housing? Posted by Customer
A:
For 2.4L engines (2014 and earlier), to remove the air intake duct, loosen the clamp and detach the air intake hose from the air filter box. On PZEV models, disconnect the air injection hose from the intake duct. Loosen the clamp retaining the duct to the throttle body and then remove the duct. For installation, follow the reverse of removal. For 2.4L engines (2015 and later), remove the engine cover by pulling it up, then disconnect the IAT sensor and the intake tube from the throttle body. Remove the bolt securing the intake tube to the valve cover and disconnect it from the air filter box. For installation, follow the reverse of removal. For 2.7L and 3.5L engines, disconnect the inlet air temperature sensor and fresh air hose from the air filter box, then loosen the hose clamp at the throttle body and remove the air inlet hose. Disengage the wire harness connector from the starter cable support bracket, remove the air filter box hold down fastener, and lift the box straight up off the locating pins. For installation, follow the reverse of removal. For 3.6L engines (2014 and earlier), remove the engine cover and disconnect the fresh air hose. Remove the push pin and two bolts from the air filter body. Loosen the hose clamp at the resonator and remove the air filter body. For installation, follow the reverse of removal. For 3.6L engines (2015 and later), remove the engine cover and disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector. Loosen the hose clamps and remove the intake flex tube from between the air filter box and intake resonator. Detach the fuel vapor line retaining clip from the resonator, remove the resonator-to-intake manifold mounting pushpin, and loosen the resonator hose clamp at the throttle body. Remove the purge control solenoid, then pull the intake resonator straight up to release it from the grommet and off of the throttle body. For air filter box removal, on 2.4L (2014 and earlier), 2.7L, and 3.5L engines, unlock the air filter box cover tabs and lift off the cover. Pull the cover forward to disengage the rear tabs, then remove the air filter element. Remove the plastic fastener from the fresh air intake duct (as applicable) and the filter box mounting bolt, then pull the Box off the mounting stud(s). Inspect the rubber mounting grommets on the underside of the air filter Box and replace if damaged. For installation, follow the reverse of removal. For 3.6L and 2015 and later 2.4L engines, disconnect the PCV hose from the air filter Box if equipped. Loosen the intake duct hose clamp and disconnect the duct from the Box. On 2014 and earlier 3.6L engines, remove the plastic fastener from the fresh air inlet duct and remove the two Box mounting bolts. On 2015 and later models, pull the Box straight up to release it from the mounting grommets. For installation, follow the reverse of removal.
