- A:If replacement is necessary due to fluid leakage, it is recommended to replace the calipers rather than overhauling them. New and factory rebuilt units are available for exchange. Always replace the calipers in pairs, never just one. To remove the caliper, loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel. If removing a front caliper, disconnect the brake hose from the caliper by removing the banjo bolt and plug the brake hose to prevent contamination. Discard the sealing washers and use new ones during installation. If removing a rear caliper, remove the brake hose. If the caliper is being removed for access to other components, do not disconnect the hose. Remove the caliper mounting bolts (guide pins). To install the caliper, reverse the removal procedure. Replace the sealing washers on front calipers. Tighten the caliper mounting bolts to the specified torque. Bleed the brake circuit if the brake hose was disconnected. Check for leaks and pump the brake pedal to bring the pads into contact with the disc. Test the brakes before returning the vehicle to normal service.Posted by MoparPartsGiant Specialist
