    Q:
How to Safely Remove and Install a Car Mirror with a Pry Tool on Chrysler 200? Posted by Customer
    A:
Use a pry tool to remove the side view mirror trim panel by carefully prying off the trim panel from the corner of the door. On vehicles with power mirrors, disconnect the power mirror electrical connector. On vehicles with manual mirror adjuster, disconnect the adjuster from the side mirror cover. Remove the outside mirror mounting fasteners and the outside mirror from the vehicle. Installation is the reverse of removal. If the vehicle is equipped with either the electrochromic or telematic mirror options, first disconnect the battery. Then disconnect the electrical connector at the back of the mirror. Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the set screw on the support/bracket used on the windshield and remove the mirror set screw. Slide the mirror off the mount plate and remove the mirror. Note: If the mount plate itself has come off the windshield, adhesive kits are available at auto parts stores to re-secure it. Follow the instructions included with the kit. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    Q:
How to Remove and Install Car Mirrors on Chrysler PT Cruiser? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the interior mirror, use a Torx bit to loosen the screw, slide the mirror up and off its mounting base, and disconnect the electrical connector if equipped. If the mounting base has come off the windshield, it can be reattached using a special mirror adhesive kit available at most auto parts stores; ensure to clean the glass and the mounting base thoroughly and follow the adhesive package instructions, allowing the base to bond overnight before reattaching the mirror. For installation, reverse the removal process. For the exterior mirror, detach the mirror cover by pulling it straight off, and if the vehicle has power mirrors, disconnect the mirror electrical connector. If the wiring harness cannot be pulled up far enough, the door panel will need to be removed for access. Next, remove the three nuts securing the mirror bezel and take it off the door. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    Q:
What Should You Do If Your Car Mirror Isn't Working on Chrysler Sebring? Posted by Customer
    A:
On these models, the outside mirrors are controlled by the Front Door Power Switch Assembly (FDPSA), which houses the mirror control switches and the Front Door Control Module (FDCM). The FDPSA interprets the mirror control switch movements, while the FDCM supplies the battery voltage and ground to the motors to move the mirrors. The electric rear view mirrors use two motors to move the glass; one for up and down adjustments and one for left-right adjustments. The control switch has a selector portion which sends voltage to the left or right side mirror. With the ignition in the ACC position and the engine OFF, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions (left-right and up-down) for both the left and right side mirrors. Listen carefully for the sound of the electric motors running in the mirrors. If the motors can be heard but the mirror glass doesn't move, there's probably a problem with the drive mechanism inside the mirror. A loud but distinct clicking can be heard with most failures associated with the drive motors failing to move the actual mirrors. Power mirrors have no user-serviceable parts inside - a defective mirror must be replaced as a unit. If the mirrors don't operate and no sound comes from the mirrors, check the fuses. If the fuses are OK, remove the mirror control switch. Have the switch continuity checked by a dealer service department or other qualified shop. Check the ground connections. If the mirror still doesn't work, remove the mirror and check the wires at the mirror for voltage. If there's not voltage in each switch position, check the mirror and control switch for a disconnected (open) lead. It should be noted that a weak or loose connection is often overlooked as the problem. Be sure to check all electrical connections as well. If there is voltage and grounds at the leads on their respective positions and the mirror still does not respond, replace the mirror assembly.

    Q:
How Do Car Mirrors Work and What Should You Do If They Malfunction on Chrysler PT Cruiser? Posted by Customer
    A:
Most electric rear view mirrors utilize two motors for adjustments, one for vertical movement and another for horizontal movement. The control switch features a selector that directs voltage to either the left or right side mirror. With the ignition ON but the engine OFF, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors. Listen carefully for the sound of the electric motors running; if the motors are audible but the mirror glass remains stationary, there may be an issue with the drive mechanism inside the mirror. If there is no sound from the mirrors, check the fuse. If the fuse is intact, remove the mirror control switch and have its continuity checked by a qualified repair facility. Additionally, test the ground connections. If the mirror still does not function, remove it and check for voltage at the wires. If there is no voltage in each switch position, inspect the circuit between the mirror and control switch for any opens or shorts. If voltage is present, remove the mirror and test it off the vehicle using jumper wires, replacing it if it fails this test.

    Q:
How to Effectively Replace Your Car Mirrors on Dodge Nitro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the interior mirror, if equipped with wires, first unscrew the electrical connector in the rear of the mirror, then remove the setscrew and slide the mirror off the mount on windshield. Installation is the process that is opposite to removal in a particular operation. In the case the support button of the mirror has been pulled off the windshield, it has to be reunited with the help of the special mirror adhesive kit, which may be bought in auto-parts stores. Clean both the glass and the mount, apply adhesive as per the adhesive package instructing and do unto the base to make sure it bonds perfectly in a warm area and attach the mirror and make sure that the rounded end of the mount is up and that the wider part is towards the glass. The procedure for the exterior mirror is first to remove the flat inner door panel and then disconnect the electrical connector. To do it, take off the three nuts fixed on the outside mirror and produce the mirror at last. Installation is exactly the opposite of the removal process that has already been described.

    Q:
How Do Car Mirrors Work and What Should You Do If They Malfunction on Jeep Compass? Posted by Customer
    A:
The electric rear view mirrors utilize two motors for adjustments, That is, they require one wheel for lifting up and down, and another for moving in any linear direction. The output is a control switch with a selector that connects voltage to either the left or the right side mirror. Begin with the ignition in the ACC position and the engine off and then open all the windows and operate the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors taking note of the sound of the electric motors. If one can hear the motors but the mirror glass does not move, there may be a problem with the internal drive assembly which makes a different clicking noise during the failure. Power mirrors do not have any user-replaceable components as the whole unit has to be replaced if it is faulty. In case the mirrors make no sounds, then one has to examine the fuses. If the fuses are good then you need to pull the mirror control switch and check it with a multimeter, or take it to a qualified service department. Also, check up on the ground connections. If the mirror is still not functioning, take it off and see if you get voltage in the wires. If there is no voltage in each switch position, then it is probable that there is a disconnected lead of which weak or loose connections are usually unnoticed. The holding area must be checked a lot with focus being placed on all electrical connections. If voltage and ground are good but the mirror does not operate, it is necessary to replace this mirror assembly.

    Q:
How Do Car Mirrors Work and What Are the Best Troubleshooting Steps on Jeep Liberty? Posted by Customer
    A:
The electric rear view mirrors utilize two motors for adjustments, One of them is used for the vertical movement and the other one for the horizontal movement, with some of the models housing a heating component to resolve the defogging of the windscreen. It has a selector for switching the voltage to either the left or the right mirror in the case of the control switch. With the ignition in the ACC position, windows should be rolled down and then through the mirror control switch the functions of both the mirrors should be tried for the sound of the motors. If the motors are easy to hear but the glass is not moving, then it is more than certain that the drive system has to be replaced. Otherwise if the mirrors make no sound, it is important to examine the fuse in the fuse block. If the fuse is good, with the ignition ON, remove the door panel but do not disconnect any of the wires needed in diagnosing the 2005 mirror control switch get voltage at the switch. When voltage is available, the switch has to be checked for continuity in all positions and, if it does not have continuity, it has to be replaced. After reconnecting the switch a jumper wire can be used to check if ground is connected or not. If no response is passed from the mirror the mirror should be disconnected to test for the presence of voltage in the wired while turning the switch in various positions. When there is a lack of voltage, problems may lie in the wiring between the mirror and control switch; when voltage is present, the mirror must be tested off of the vehicle with jumper wires and must be replaced if it does not function. The day night mirror that automatically adjusts the placement of light diminishes them through frosted glass with the use of two photocell sensors in controlling an electrochromic material. On non sunroof or sunroof models, the mirror switch should be set correctly, while the ignition is on. Instead, testing is conducted by casting light onto the front sensor and making sure that the glass turns dark, and when the car is put in reverse, the glass should lighten. In case it fails any tests the mirror should be replaced.

How to Safely Remove and Install Car Mirrors on Jeep Patriot? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the outside mirrors, use a pry tool to detach the side view mirror access trim panels from the door panel, starting with the trim cover at the corner and then the door sail trim panel. Next, disconnect the electrical connector and take out the outside mirror mounting fasteners, holding the mirror as you remove the securing nuts. For installation, reverse the removal steps. For the inside mirror, if equipped with electrochromic or telematic options, first disconnect the battery, then disconnect the electrical connector at the back of the mirror. Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the set screw on the support bracket attached to the windshield, then slide the mirror off the mount plate. If the mount plate has detached from the windshield, adhesive kits are available at auto parts stores for reattachment, following the included instructions. Installation is the reverse of removal.
