    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
How to Replace Car Mirrors and Reattach the Support Base on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, take out the door trim, peel back the window molding, disconnect the power mirror power source, unscrew all the fasteners, and grind off the mirror from the door. For installation, reverse the removal steps. When changing the electronic inside mirror, disconnect and block the car's negative battery cable first. To take the mirror out of the car, first stop and disconnect the connection wires for extra features if you have them. Then grab the base of the mirror and turn it to the right 90 degrees to completely remove it from above the windshield. When installing again, do the opposite of how you removed the mirror base. Use a special mirror adhesive kit to repair any separation from the windshield during reassembly. Before moving on, clean all surfaces carefully. When removing standard inside mirrors or feedback data from the telematics system, free the setscrew holding the mirror base to the windshield, lift the mirror off its bracket, and disconnect all electrical wires before taking it out. Follow the instructions in the adhesive kit to put your support base back together if it has fallen apart.

    Q:
How to Adjust Electric Side-View Car Mirrors and What Should You Do If They Stop Working on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The electric side-view mirrors can be adjusted up-and-down and left-to-right using a driver's side switch on the left door trim panel. Models with factory-installed dual power mirrors feature a heater grid behind the mirror glass to clear fog, ice, or snow, and if a heater grid fails, the entire mirror must be replaced. The heater grid switches and heated mirror system indicator light are part of the heater/air conditioning control panel on the dash, and if any of these components fail, the heater/air conditioning control assembly needs replacement. The heated mirror relay is found in one of the fuse and relay boxes. The power mirror control switch includes a Left-Right selector switch to direct voltage to the desired side-view mirror. With the ignition in the ACC position, roll down the windows and operate the mirror control switch for both mirrors, listening for the sound of the electric motors. If the motors are audible but the mirror glass does not move, the drive mechanism inside the mirror is likely defective, requiring mirror replacement. If there is no sound from the mirrors, check the fuse in the fuse and relay boxes. If the fuse is intact, turn the ignition on and check for voltage at the switch; there should be voltage at one terminal. If there is no voltage, inspect the wiring between the fuse panel and the switch. If voltage is present, disconnect the switch and check for continuity in all operating positions; replace the switch if continuity is absent. Reconnect the switch and locate the wire going from the switch to ground; connecting a jumper wire between this wire and ground should allow the mirror to function normally, indicating a faulty ground connection that needs repair. If the mirror still does not work, remove it and check for voltage at the mirror wires with the ignition on and the mirror selector switch in the appropriate position, ensuring voltage is present in each switch position except the neutral position. If voltage is absent in any position, inspect the wiring between the mirror and control switch for opens and shorts. If voltage is confirmed, test the mirror off the vehicle with jumper wires and replace it if it fails this test.

    Q:
How to Safely Remove and Install Car Mirrors on Dodge Charger? Posted by Customer
    A:
For Outside Mirrors,Remove the door trim panel. Pull back the window trim molding, on power mirrors, unplug the electrical connector, then remove the fasteners and detach the mirror from the door. Disconnect the electrical connector, then remove the mirror mounting fasteners. Installation is the reverse of removal. INSIDE MIRROR: Remove the set screw, then slide the mirror up off the support base on the windshield. On models with optional automatic day/night mirrors, disconnect the electrical connector. Installation is the reverse of removal. If the support base for the mirror has come off the windshield, it can be reattached with a special mirror adhesive kit available at auto parts stores. Clean the glass and support base thoroughly and follow the directions on the adhesive package.

    Q:
What are the functions and components of the electric Car Mirror on Dodge Magnum? Posted by Customer
    A:
The electric side-view mirrors are adjustable using a driver's side switch on the left door trim panel, allowing for both up-and-down and left-to-right adjustments. Models with factory-installed dual power mirrors feature a heater grid behind the mirror glass to remove fog, ice, or snow, with the heater grid integrated into each mirror. If a heater grid malfunctions, the mirror requires replacement. The heater grid switches and the heated mirror system indicator light are part of the heater/air conditioning control panel on the dashboard, and if any of these components fail, the heater/air conditioning control assembly should be replaced. The heated mirror relay is located in one of the fuse and relay boxes. The power mirror control switch includes a LEFT-RIGHT selector switch to adjust either side-view mirror. With the ignition in the ACC position, operate the mirror control switch through all functions for both mirrors while listening for the electric motors' sound within the mirrors. If the motors are audible but the mirror glass remains stationary, a defective drive mechanism necessitates mirror replacement. If the mirrors don't operate, check the fuse. If the fuse is intact, proceed to inspect the mirror control switch's voltage, continuity, and ground connections. If issues persist, test the mirror and its wiring for voltage and functionality, replacing the mirror if necessary.
