    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
Where is the Knock Sensor Located on Chrysler 300? Posted by Customer
    A:
The knock sensor for V6 engines is on top of the block, underneath the lower intake manifold. To remove it, remove the upper and lower intake manifolds. For V8 engines, there are two knock sensors on the left and right sides of the block below the exhaust manifold. To remove them, raise the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting bolt. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque.

    Q:
How to disconnect and replace the knock sensor on Chrysler PT Cruiser? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. The knock sensor is threaded into the front side of the cylinder block, near the starter, so remove the battery for access. Detach the fuel injector harness electrical connector from its bracket without unplugging it. Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor and unscrew the knock sensor using a deep socket. Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to tighten the knock sensor to the specified torque.

    Q:
How do you replace the Knock Sensors for the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the knock sensors, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector, which is located at the rear of the engine, behind the intake manifold. If you can't find the connector, wait until you have removed the intake manifold and locate the two knock sensors and trace their leads back to the common connector. Remove the intake manifold and then remove the knock sensor assembly by removing the mounting bolts. Make sure to clean the holes for the mounting bolts before installing the new knock sensor assembly. For 3.7L V6 engines, note that the left knock sensor is identified by an identification tag and has a larger mounting bolt. Do not install the left knock sensor in the right sensor mounting position and vice versa, as it will confuse the PCM and cause a Diagnostic Trouble Code. Installation is the reverse of removal, making sure to tighten the knock sensor mounting bolts to the common connector.
