    Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands.

    How do you remove the rear axle assembly and Axle Shaft for the 2005 Dodge Durango? Posted by Customer
    A:
    Start by raising the rear of the vehicle and supporting it with jackstands. Remove the rear wheels and disconnect the driveshaft and ABS sensor. Disconnect the parking brake cable and unscrew the vent hose fitting. Disconnect the brake lines and remove the rear brake calipers. Support the rear axle with a floor jack and remove the Watts link bellcrank bolt and stabilizer bar clamp bolts. Remove the lower mounting bolts securing the rear shocks and the upper control arms from the axle brackets. Lower the axle assembly and remove the coil springs. Remove the lower control arms and lower the axle assembly from under the vehicle.
