    Installation and Repair Tips
    Q:
How to remove and install the Timing Belt Tensioner in 2.4L four cylinder engine on Jeep Wrangler? Posted by Customer
    A:
Take out the timing belt then the bolt of the timing belt idler pulley and the idler pulley as well. Inserting hold tool M-11083, remove camshaft sprocket bolts next to front timing belt cover assembly, and after that, the rear timing belt cover bolts and consequently, the cover. Next, take out an AN/6H/BA lower timing belt tensioner bolt and the tensioner assembly also. For assembly place the timing belt tensioner in front of the engine as shown in fig:14 and do not tighten the lower mounting bolt. Place an engine bracket mounting bolt (M10) through the upper tensioner bolt hole and tighten it half an inch to three quarters of an inch with five seven turns. Loosen the lower tensioner bolt to the required torque and then, take out the upper bolt. Fit the rear timing belt cover and tighten the cover screws to the required torque. Go ahead and fit the timing belt idler pulley and tighten the bolt to the appropriate torque. Fit each camshaft sprocket in place in such a way that the pin of the camshaft fits into the respective hole in the sprocket; then while tightening the sprocket bolt, a suitable tool should be use to hold the sprocket in place tightening the bolt to the recommended torque. Last but not the least is to fit the timing belt.

    Q:
How to remove and install a timing belt and Timing Belt Tensioner in four cylinder engine on Jeep Liberty? Posted by Customer
    A:
To go out with the timing belt, it is necessary to unbolt the timing belt idler pulley and then the pulley itself. Then to take off the camshaft sprocket, apply a suitable holding tool to remove the camshaft sprocket bolts, while at the same time making sure that the two camshafts do not turn while removing the bolts and then pry of the two sprockets using two large screwdrivers. Then, take out the bolts for the rear timing belt cover and put off the rear cover, then the bolt as well as the timing belt tensioner assembly at the lower side should be unbolted. For installation of the timing belt tensioner fix it in front of the engine and tighten only one lower mounting bolt. Thread an engine bracket mounting bolt into the upper tensioner bolt hole as far as five- to seven-turns and then fully tighten the lower tensioner bolt to the 32 lb ft/35 Nm torque; remove the upper bolt. Then, fit in the rear timing belt cover and tighten the screws on the cover, after which fix the timing belt idler pulley with a bolt tightened to the recommended torque. Last but not the least, fit in each camshaft sprocket so that the pin of the camshaft fits into the hole of the sprocket and hold the sprocket with the help of some special tool and fasten the nut to the required torque before putting on the timing belt.
