Symptoms of problems with the EGA system include rough idling, stalling, and rough engine performance. To check the system, inspect hoses for damage and proper connections. For non-turbocharged engines, test the EGA valve operation and clean the EGR ports if necessary. For turbocharged engines, check the EGR valve for vacuum hold, verify the EGR solenoid and backpressure solenoid are holding vacuum, and test the EGR valve vacuum motor. If any components are faulty, they should be replaced.
