This Performance Crankshaft Pulley utilises torque which is derived directly from the crankshaft to improve on overall efficiency and performance. In second, it acts as a harmonic balancer where it helps to reduce vibrations of the engine to ensure a smoother running of the engine. Throughout the years, several designs of the Performance Crankshaft Pulley have been implemented in the Dodge Avenger models with each exhibiting unique performance enhancement. Such variations could mean differences in the weights, the material utilized or design, all of which would determine the efficiency in power transference or vibration control.

Dodge Avenger Crankshaft Pulley Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the crankshaft pulley in 3.5L V6 engine on Dodge Avenger?
    A:
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the remote ground terminal. Loosen the lug nuts on the right front wheel, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the right front wheel and inner fender liner. Remove the right Engine Mount. Remove the accessory drive belts. Connect an engine hoist to the engine and support it. Remove the lower crossmember. Lower the engine enough to position a large screwdriver through the crankshaft pulley to keep the crankshaft from turning, and remove the pulley-to-crankshaft bolt. Pull the crankshaft pulley off the crankshaft with a puller, ensuring the jaws of the puller only contact the hub of the pulley and not the outer ring. A spacer or long Allen-head bolt must be inserted into the crankshaft nose for the puller's tapered tip to push against, avoiding contact with the crankshaft itself. To install the crankshaft pulley, slide it onto the crankshaft as far as it will go, then use a vibration damper installation tool to press it onto the crankshaft. Install the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt and tighten it to the specified torque. The remainder of installation follows the reverse order of removal.
