The vehicle should be raised and securely supported on jackstands, and penetrating oil should be applied to the clamp bolts. After several minutes, the bolts and rubber hangers can be removed, and the converter can be separated from the exhaust pipe. Any old gaskets stuck to the pipes should be removed. During installation, new exhaust pipe gaskets should be used, and the clamp nuts should be tightened to the specified torque.
