- A:Install the new alternator by tightening the mounting bolts. Put the drivebelt back on and check the charging voltage to confirm proper operation. For Hemi engines, follow similar steps but also disconnect the field wire electrical connector and remove the plastic insulator cap from the B+ output terminal. Remove the battery cable retaining nut and disconnect the battery cable. Remove the alternator mounting bolts and take out the alternator.
