Q:
How can you check if all the injectors are operating properly for the 1992 Chrysler Imperial? Posted by Customer
A:
With the engine running or cranking, listen to the sound from each injector with an automotive stethoscope and verify the injectors are all clicking the same. If you don't have a stethoscope, place the tip of as crew driver against the injectors and press your ear against the handle of the screwdriver. Also feel the operation of each injector with your finger. It should sound/feel smooth and uniform and its sound/feel should rise and fall with engine RPM. If an injector isn't operating, or sounds/feels erratic check the injector connector and the wire electrical connector. If the connectors are snug, check for voltage to the injector, using a special injector harness test light (available at most auto parts stores).

Q:
How to remove a Fuel Injector on single-point efi engine? Posted by Customer
A:
With the engine running or cranking, listen to the sound from the injector with an automotive stethoscope or by touching the area of the throttle body above the fuel injector with your finger to determine if it is operating smoothly. If it sounds or feels erratic, check the injector electrical connector and test for voltage using a special injector harness test light. If there is voltage but the injector is not operating properly, replace it. To remove the injector, first remove the air cleaner assembly and relieve the fuel system pressure. Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the fuel pressure regulator if necessary. Remove the Torx screw and carefully pry off the injector cap. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry the injector from the throttle body. Peel off the upper and lower O-rings from the injector, making sure to retrieve the lower O-ring if it is not on the injector. To install the new injector, place new O-rings on the injector and a new O-ring on the injector cap. Coat the O-rings with a light film of engine oil. Insert the injector into the throttle body and place the injector cap onto it, aligning them properly. Rotate the cap and injector to line up the attachment hole, then tighten the screws securely. Reconnect the negative battery cable, start the engine, and check for leaks. Finally, turn off the engine and reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
