Disconnect the negative cable at the battery. Place the cable out of the way so it cannot accidentally come in contact with the negative terminal of the battery, as this would once again allow power into the electrical system of the vehicle. Remove the glove box for access to the MAP sensor. Unplug the vacuum hose and wiring connector, remove the retaining bolts and withdraw the MAP sensor from under the instrument panel. The MAP sensor and automatic shutdown relay are located adjacent to the logic module on 1984 models. To install, place the MAP sensor in position and install the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts securely and install the glove box. Remove the logic module. Remove the two retaining screws and detach the MAP sensor from the logic module. On 1985 and 1986 models, the MAP sensor is located on the logic module. To install, place the MAP sensor in position on the logic module and install the retaining screws.

To replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), follow the steps for replacement, including removal of the air cleaner assembly for the 2.5L engine, unplugging the electrical connector, removing the screws retaining the TPS, and reinstalling it securely.
