- A:The MAP sensor is located on the front of the intake manifold, just above the alternator. To access it, start by removing the engine cover by pulling it up off the ballstuds. Next, disconnect the electrical connector from the MAP sensor and remove the screw that retains it to the manifold. Carefully pull the sensor out of the manifold. Take a moment to inspect the MAP sensor O-ring for any signs of damage such as cracks, tears, or deterioration. If the O-ring is damaged, it should be replaced.
