On 2.7L and 3.SL V6 engines, the thermostat is located on the lower left side of the engine and connected to a large diameter coolant hose. On 3.6L engines, the thermostat is located on the top front of the engine mounted to the coolant crossover. On VB engines, the thermostat is located at the top front area of the engine at the intake manifold and connected to a large diameter coolant hose. To replace the thermostat, first remove the engine cover and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Drain the cooling system and remove the air filter housing or air intake duct if necessary. Loosen the hose clamp and detach the hose(s) from the thermostat housing. If the housing is deteriorated, it will need to be replaced. For 2.7L V6 engines, loosen the bolt at the starter motor and remove the heater tube flange mounting nuts. Remove the thermostat housing cover and discard the O-ring seal. Note the position of the thermostat and the air bleed "jiggle valve." For 3.5L V6 engines, disconnect the electrical connectors from the nearby engine oil and power steering pressure switches. Remove the thermostat housing cover and thermostat, being careful to remove any distorted metal from the housing. For 3.6L V6 engines, disconnect the radiator hose and remove the thermostat housing and gasket. For the coolant crossover housing, remove the thermostat housing and disconnect the heater hose. Remove the crossover housing and discard the gaskets. Clean all mating surfaces before reassembly. Install a new gasket on the crossover housing and place it onto the timing chain cover. Install the thermostat and seal, making sure it is in the same direction and position as the one removed. Reattach the hose(s) to the housing cover and fitting(s) and tighten the hose clamp(s) securely. Refill the cooling system, start the engine, and check for leaks and proper thermostat operation.

Start by disconnecting the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s) and draining the cooling system. The location of the thermostat housing varies depending on the engine type. Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine for the 3.6L engine and the 5.7L and 6.4L Hemi engine. For the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, follow the lower radiator hose to the engine. For the diesel engine, follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. Remove the necessary components to access the thermostat housing. Squeeze the tabs on the hose clamp to loosen it and detach the hose(s) from the thermostat housing. If the hose is stuck, twist it with adjustable pliers to break the seal. Remove the thermostat housing from the engine and remove the thermostat. Install a new rubber gasket around the thermostat and insert it into the thermostat housing. Install the thermostat housing and bolts onto the engine, then reattach the hose(s) and tighten the hose clamp(s) securely. Refill the cooling system, start the engine, and check for leaks and proper thermostat operation.
