How to replace the gearshift assembly on Chrysler Cirrus?

Disconnect the negative cable from the remote battery terminal, then remove the center console. Next, disconnect the shift cable from the shift lever pin and floor pan bracket, followed by disconnecting the shifter/ignition interlock cable from the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers. For models equipped with Auto stick, detach the electrical connector from the base of the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers. Remove the attaching nut and take out the Automatic Transmission Shift Levers. Installation is the reverse of removal, with the adjustment of the shift cable required before installing the center console.
