    Q:
How to service the Crankshaft Seal in a 3.5L V6 engine on Chrysler Sebring? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Crankshaft Seal at the rear and the housing are worked on a single unit and some of the servicing work needs special tools. Before the game starts it is therefore important to read through the procedure. It is used in 2.7L V6 engine, and all the outlined procedure should be taken while using the appropriate bolt torque value.

    Q:
How to remove and install a rear crankshaft seal on Jeep Compass? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the driveplate. Use a screwdriver wrapped with tape to pry out the Crankshaft Seal, being careful not to gouge or nick the housing. Lubricate the crankshaft seal journal and the lip of the new seal with multi-purpose grease. Install the seal with the seal lip toward the engine and the dust seal toward the transaxle. Tap the seal into place using a seal driver to ensure it doesn't become tilted. Install the seal so that its rear edge is flush with the face of the engine block, or up to 0.020 inch recessed. The remainder of installation is the reverse of removal.

    Q:
How to remove and replace the front crankshaft seal on Jeep Patriot? Posted by Customer
    A:
Remove the crankshaft pulley. Use a screwdriver or hook tool to carefully pry out the seal, taking care not to damage the oil pump cover bore or the crankshaft's nose and sealing surface. An alternative method for removing the seal involves drilling a small hole on each side and inserting self-tapping screws to pull the seal out without prying. If replacing the seal while the timing chain cover is off, support the cover on two blocks of wood and drive the seal out from the backside with a hammer and punch, ensuring not to scratch or distort the area where the seal fits to prevent leaks. Apply clean engine oil or multi-purpose grease to the outer edge of the new seal and install it in the cover with the lip facing inward, using a seal driver or large socket and hammer to drive it into place squarely until the front face is at the proper depth. Check the crankshaft pulley hub surface for grooves from long-term contact with the seal; if present, the pulley must be replaced. Lubricate the pulley hub with clean engine oil and then install the crankshaft pulley, completing the installation in reverse order of removal.
